Held in India’s financial capital on March 23 & 24, 2018, the conference witnessed participation from the leading lights of the business-law fraternity who exchanged notes on how the industry can adapt itself to evolving government policy to attract greater investment into the country

Adding to its already impressive repertoire, Legal Era Magazine organized the 7th Annual GENNEXT Business Congress 2018 in India’s financial capital, Mumbai. The Conclave, held at Hotel Taj Lands End, was spread out over March 23 and 24, 2018 and saw meaningful participation from top GCs, business professionals, promoters of companies, directors, CEOs, and lawyers from different parts of the world. There were as many as 25 concurrent panels and plenaries over the course of the two days led by national and international speakers of renown.

The inaugural session of the Conclave was aptly titled, “Business & Law, Impact Of Regulatory Regimes, Global Developments & Future Strategies,” and saw the likes of Anand Desai, President, TiE Mumbai, & Managing Partner, DSK Legal; Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President, Bar Association of India & Society of Indian Law Firms; and Geoffrey D. Creighton, Immediate Past-President, In-House Counsel Worldwide, & Member, BlackRock Canada IRC; Consulting Editor, Legal Era Magazine taking to the stage to elaborate on the central theme and objective of the Conclave. Aakriti Raizada, Founder & Managing Editor, Legal Era Magazine, Legal Media Group, India, declared the conference open with a warm welcome to all attendees. “The two-day 7th Annual GENNEXT Business & Law Congress 2018 has been conceptualized and constructed with a view to precipitating a collective voice on what should be the desired regulatory framework and what should be the approach of major stakeholders towards it...”, she said.

Hon'ble Justice Deepak Verma, born on August 28, 1947 at Jabalpur, did schooling from Christ Church, Mahakaushal High School, Model High School and finally matriculation from Naveen Vidya Bhawan, Jabalpur. After matriculation, he took admission in B.Sc. in Government Science College, Jabalpur, but later on, he changed from Science to Arts and did B.A. from St. Aloysius College, Jabalpur. He completed LL.B. from Jabalpur University.

Justice Deepak was enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1972. He practiced as such mainly on the civil side till elevation in the year 1994 under his father late Shri R.P. Verma, who was a great civil lawyer of his time. He was Administrative Judge of Indore till August 2005. Thereafter, he continued as Administrative Judge, High Court of MP, Jabalpur. He was additionally appointed as Welfare Commissioner, Bhopal Gas Victims, to disburse the amount of compensation to the Gas Victims of Bhopal. Almost all victims have been awarded compensation during his tenure except for those who are not traceable despite notices.

He was transferred as Judge of the Karnataka High Court, Bangalore, on 02.01.2008. He was the senior-most Judge there. He was elevated as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court on 04.03.2009 and took oath as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court on 06.03.2009. He was elevated as Judge of Supreme Court of India on 11.05.2009.
