With more than 25 years of experience in Telecom, Information Technology and Ecommerce, Rakesh has seen all the 3 waves of growth that the Indian economy has gone through since 1990. Rakesh started with Fujitsu and managed end to end procurement multi million dollar transactions with the Department of Telecom, Government of India and as the telecom sector opened up, Fujitsu was turnkey equipment supplier to static line and cellular service providers. In 1998, Rakesh was a part of the India Leadership Team that helped establish Microsoft’s business in India. In Microsoft, he led a team of 17 specialists in the legal, public policy and CSR space. Some of the key highlights was the conceptualization and execution of thezero piracy program bythe Indian State of Karnataka (the first of its kind any where in the world)which helped establish Bangalore as a the silicon valley of India in 2001. To drive adoption of Information Technology in the underserved manufacturing clusters across India, Rakesh helped conceive and deliver Project Vikas, a program that was launched by Bill Gates in partnership with the Government of India and for which Microsoft pledged USD 25 Million.
